FOR CHAMBERS
A Chamber's Conundrum
Chambers are recognized as one of the best places to network in a community. But here’s the problem: generally people aren’t very good at networking. Some are simply nervous doing it; others just don’t believe it is a good use of their time or get easily discouraged after going to one or two events. So, they stop coming.
The good news is that networking is a learned skill and chambers are ‘silver-platter’ organizations—all members have to do is show up. Okay, that’s not quite true. Just showing up is only part of the equation. Most people need to be taught the skills of networking, everything from exchanging business cards to establishing rapport and ease of conversation. That’s where the training ideas listed below come in handy. Eighty percent of the people we teach report not being very good at networking. All of the following programs can be offered individually or in a series and are easily customized to your specific needs.
